DEFending AdvancEd aNd AI-powereD CybER AttackS (DEFENDERS)

DEFENDERS

The  DEFending AdvancEd aNd AI-powereD CybER AttackS / DEFENDERS project aims to develop an integrated cyber defense framework that leverages Artificial Intelligence, Edge Computing, and Federated Learning to detect, assess, and respond to cyber threats in real time.  DEFENDERS  focuses on IT and communications infrastructures—the backbone of all critical sectors—delivering intelligent behavioral models, risk analysis systems, and automated mitigation mechanisms to enhance resilience, interoperability, and threat response capabilities.

Work Packages

01.

Focuses on the overall coordination, project management, risk assessment, and quality assurance. It also includes internal communication workflows, progress monitoring, and the preparation of reports and deliverables, ensuring smooth collaboration across the consortium.

02.

Defines the functional and technical specifications of the DEFENDERS platform. It includes the analysis of requirements, the identification of threat scenarios, and the design of the system architecture using behavior and threat modeling.

03.

Dedicated to the design and development of AI-powered components for cyber threat detection and response. This includes behavioral anomaly detection algorithms, edge computing modules, and intelligent response mechanisms integrated into a unified monitoring system.

04.

Focuses on the integration, validation, and pilot deployment of the complete platform in realistic environments. It includes usability testing, use-case scenario evaluation, customization of security administrator dashboards, as well as the dissemination of project outcomes to relevant stakeholders.

05.

Deals with the collection, anonymization, and sharing of security incident information. It involves the integration of specialized techniques for the protection of sensitive data and the development of secure sharing mechanisms. The sharing platform to be developed will enhance interoperability and enable timely response to cyber threats across critical infrastructures.
